Right to Manage

Urban Island (officially called Island House) is now managed by Island House Right to Manage Ltd (IHRTM). In 2007 we took control of the management of the property and removed Dunlop Haywards Property Services as Managing Agent.

Have you ever felt frustrated after buying your property to find you have little say in the financial running and service delivery to your property? Residents at Urban Island were dismayed by the lack of control and the ability to control service delivery to the development and thanks to leashold legislation passed in 2002 were able to do something about it. Island House Right to Manage - people power!

Since 2007 a committed board of resident directors have refocused their energy into improving the development and providing excellent management.

What we do

  • work with the managing agent to improve the safety and quality of life for all residents.
  • deliver excellent value for money services to the development.
  • ensure contingency for future expenses is in place.
  • arrange and hold meetings and consult with our members.
  • interact with all local groups and communities and create strong ties.
  • support improvements in the Three Mills area and play a part in consultation of the regeneration of the area.
  • act as advocates for the unique and special conservation area the development is situated in.

IHRTM appointed Wortley Byers LLP to carry out the necessary legal work. In May 2008 management passed to IHRTM Ltd steered by a board of unpaid directors. We appointed Rendall & Rittner to Manage the property enabling a comprehensive review and streamlining of all services to the estate.
