Urban Island - Exciting regeneration changes.
Tesco development adjacent to Urban Island - public exhibition 25 and 26 September 2009
Residents met with Tesco's at their public exhibition to showcase proposals for a new shopping and residential district in Bromley By Bow. They look impressive and include -
- A new Tesco store. (replacing the existing one)
- a new primary school.
- up to 400 new homes.
- a district centre including new shops, a public park and a hotel.
The area across the canal where the current car parking site is also going to be developed and we will supply any information we receive.
Some of the suggestions other local people suggested where:
- To change the name of Imperial way to something else - Heritage way?
- For a boat ferry to transport people from the Thames to the area.

Several residents asked about the traffic impact, as it stands there is little information on this at the moment but 1500 new people living in the area is bound to have a substantial impact.
